### How To Calculate The Area For Tiling?

Room’s Length x Room’s Width = Total Area For Tiling

## How Do You Calculate Tile Work?

There’s a simple formula to calculate how much tile work you need. Multiply the total length of your room by its width - then divide the result by the total area of the tile.

Most tiles come in inch measurements - so if you want to know the tile measurements in square feet, then divide square inches by 144 to find square feet.

### What is The Formula Of Calculating Tiles? How To Calculate How Much Tiles Are Needed?

Divide the area or room that you are tiling by the square footage for one tile.

The Area You Are Tiling / Square Footage For One Tile.

But, how will you calculate the area for tiling?

Simple.

Just select the room you want to tile, then multiply its length by its width. That’s how you calculate the area for tiling.

### How To Calculate Tile Footage?

Measure the length and width in feet of the entire tiling area and multiply the length by the width. That’s how you calculate the tile square footage. If you want to convert this measurement into inches, then divide the total square footage by 144.

### How To Calculate The Area That One Tile Can Cover?

Tile Length x Tile Width = The Area That One Tile Covers (in square inches)

If you want to know the total area that one tile covers in square feet rather than square inches, then do the following:

The Area That One Tile Covers in Square Inches / 144 = The Area That One Tile Covers in Square Feet

## How Do I Calculate How Much Ceramic Tile I Need?

Calculating how much tile work you need can be a hassle. But if you divide the whole task into a simple & step-by-step process, you'll realize that you can take out an estimate of tile work pretty easily.

So if you want to calculate how much ceramic tile you need, you'll need to calculate the total tiling area.

To know the total area for tiling, multiply the length of your room by its width.

Divide the result by 144 to know the answer in square feet instead of square inches.

Now you know the total area that you'll be tiling.

Let's calculate how many tiles you'll need to order.

To calculate that, first multiply your tile's length by its width.

Now you know the total area of your "TILE".

Divide the total area of tiling by the total area of tile to know how many tiles you'll need to order.

5 Steps to Calculate How Much Tile You Need

### How Much Tile Do I Need For A 12x12 A 12x12 room, meaning 12 feet in length and 12 feet, has an area of 144 square feet. Now divide 144 square feet by the measurement of one tile’s square feet to know the number of tiles you’ll be needing for a 12x12 room.

Here’s the calculation:

12x12 room’s total area (in square feet) = 144 square feet.

One tile’s total coverage area (in square feet) = 2.118 square feet

Now divide the room’s total area (in square feet) by One tile’s total coverage area (in square feet)

144 / 2.118 = 67.9 ~ 68 tiles

A 12x12 room will be needing 68 tiles

However, it is always recommended that you order 10% extra tiles as a backup. That way, you’ll be able to completely tile your room even if some tiles break in the process.

So if you want to tile your 12x12 room, it is better to order 74 tiles.

## How To Calculate The Coverage Area (In Square Feet) Of One Tile?

Whenever you land on a tile’s product page, you’ll see various measurements. To know the coverage area of one tile, pick two measurements.

First is coverage area (this is the coverage area of the box that contains tils and not the coverage area of the tile itself) and the second is pieces per box.

Divide the coverage area by the pieces per box and you’ll get the total coverage area of one tile (in square feet).
